Which version of Vista is best…
This is first in the Getting Started with Vista Series. We look at different versions available, comparisons and then you decide which version is the best or you.
Home Basic
Home Premium
Business
Ultimate
That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now which version is best for you?
If you want to experience:
- Elegant Windows Aero desktop
- Photos and entertainment (Using Windows Media Center)
- Windows Media Center (Using extenders)
- Scheduled Backup
- Making DVDs
- 3 new premium games
- Creating high definition movies
Then you should grab a copy of Home Premium, if you are a home user.
In addition to these features, an Ultimate User can enjoy additional features, such as:
- Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore
- Easier business networking connectivity (Network Center and Remote Desktop)
- Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption
Although you may see subtle differences here, these are significant from non-home user’s perspective, which will be covered later in the series.
In emerging markets, there is Windows Vista Starter. Windows Vista Starter is the most affordable way to enjoy the basic Windows Vista experience. Windows Vista Starter is exclusively* available in emerging markets, and is designed for a beginning PC user with additional tools and tutorials to make it easier to use.
*Note: Windows Vista Starter is not currently scheduled to be available in the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, or other high income markets as defined by the World Bank.
So, my dear readers, which version is best for your needs? Are you planning to buy or upgrade to Windows Vista?
I would love to hear from you!
